There are three areas of your life which have a direct and inverse relationship with Stress: the better they are the higher Stress relief is. And if you’re highly stressed they are usually of very low quality. When one goes up the other three go down and when the three go up the other goes down. Also they usually influence one another so to reduce Stress you can focus on just one area and the other two will follow.
The first Stress relief is Sleep.
When you’re stressed usually the quality of your sleep is very poor, you don’t sleep well, you can have nightmares and usually you wake up more tired then when you got to bed. So we can say that if you’re stressed you don’t sleep well but we can also say that if you sleep well your level of Stress is pretty low or easily manageable. And a good sleep recharges your energy so that you can deal better with your life.
The second Stress relief is Smile.
Stressed people smile pretty rarely if ever but smiling and even better laughing is one of the most important antidote to stress so the more you smile the lower your level of stress gets. If it’s a fake smile it works pretty well too. Also laughing has the physical effect of releasing a whole bunch of good hormones throughout our body.
The third Stress relief is Sex.
The intimacy with your partner is one of the first and most important areas affected by stress and as a matter of fact if someone is highly stressed the quality of intimacy is very poor and sexual life is affected almost immediately. Everyone knows this but not everyone notices that a satisfactory intimate relationship with your partner is probably the best antidote to stress. Think about it: have you ever seen someone who has a happy sexual life stressed? Or nervous? Or ready to explode? I bet you haven’t. This is why it’s so important, and also because it helps sleeping well and smiling often. And let’s not forget that any time there is a discharge of tension and a release of another whole bunch of good hormones.
The bonus Stress relief is Sentiments.
Do you remember how you felt at the beginning of your relationship when everything was just love, flowers and rainbows? Or when your first child was born? And the other ones? Was stress an issue? I bet not again. A happy family life is another important factor in managing stress and keeping it at an acceptable level. Whether with family, friends or pets sentiments are what matter most in everyone’s life, even of those who sacrificed them for their career. Sentiments are just as important as the other three S.
