Covert Hypnosis Explained

Covert Hypnosis refers to the use of hypnotic techniques aimed at forcing you to do something whatever your opinion even against your will. Does it exist? Yes. Is Covert Hypnosis a real danger? Not really, applying those hypnotic techniques is more difficult than it seems, but they do exists and some people are very good at it. Other names for it are Underground Hypnosis, Undercover Hypnosis and Conversational Hypnosis.

Conversational Hypnosis means that someone talks to you and at the same time he’s hypnotizing you and putting you in a state of trance against your will. Actually it’s not so different from what happens in a normal hypnotic session and almost every Hypnotist can do it. Hypnosis is always based on conversation, am I wrong?

Everyone has heard about people coming into a shop, a jewelry, a bank or a similar place and going out with either money, gold or jewels without the clerk doing or remembering anything. Usually the only thing the clerk says is: “He was talking to me and then I don’t remember anything else”. This is one very common use of Covert Hypnosis. Another one which is pretty common is used by some salesmen to force a client to buy a product which usually ends with the client asking himself “Why have I bought this?”.

Than there are Covert Hypnosis techniques used for dating, that is to have the woman, or man of your dreams to go out with you even if that’s not their desire. Sometimes this kind of Hypnosis is also called Underground Hypnosis.

So, to summarize, Covert Hypnosis is using hypnotic techniques to force people to go against their will. Not common but possible.

How Covert Hypnosis works:

It works bypassing the Conscious Mind and talking directly with the Subconscious. This is usually done by diverting your Conscious attention while giving instructions to the Subconscious. When used by thieves there is usually a final command to forget everything.

A bit scaring right?

But there are good news, in order to work Covert Hypnosis has to be used with very suggestible subjects. Normally when someone tries to use this kind of hypnotic techniques with you a bell begins to ring inside your mind and you begins to ask yourself “What is he saying? Why is he talking this way?”, all magic disappears and the Covert Hypnosis techniques won’t work.

Or the Subconscious Mind kicks your Conscious saying “Hey! There is a danger! Pay attention to what he’s saying!”. Either the Conscious or the Subconscious will protect you from Covert Hypnosis. When you go to your Hypnotist you agree that he practices Hypnosis to you, so you give your agreement and are prepared to what’s going to happen. With Conversational Hypnosis done upon you without your approval the chances that you get hypnotized anyway are really small.

The Conscious Mind is always on duty.

But if you are one of those very suggestible subjects, while this is an advantage for Hypnotherapy it can get you in danger with Covert Hypnosis, at least for a while. Because even if it can affect you it won’t work for a long time. You can’t be forced to go against your will for long, that’s why thieves using hypnotic techniques usually are out of the shop in five minutes.

So, don’t worry too much about Covert Hypnosis but be aware that it exists and can be a danger. So if someone begins to talk to you in a strange manner fly away.

Final thoughts on Covert Hypnosis:

Don’t worry. Your mind is always there to protect you and there are very little chances that you’ll ever get in touch with this kind of Hypnosis. This is one of those cases when the Conscious Mind is your best friend as it will usually warn you as soon as it finds that something is going wrong. Knowing that Covert Hypnosis exists is already protecting you from its effects. Knowledge is power, as always.
