Does Hypnosis Work for Binge Eating?
Why not? Hypnosis can be applied to almost every field of human life to improve areas where we want to make a positive change so it can work for binge eating provided you apply it correctly and above all consistently. Every eating disorder can be modified using Hypnosis.
To be able to answer yes to the question “does Hypnosis work for binge eating” you must do a couple of things before:
- Talk to your doctor, this is always the first step as your doctor is the only one who can find if there is a medical reason for your eating disorder and if you are really overeating. Sometimes we can have the wrong perception.
- Admit with yourself that you have a problem with binge eating and that you want to eat less.
- Apply the following Hypnosis technique everyday until it has become a permanent positive habit. If you’re not consistent with your efforts you can’t get results. It has taken time to develop this eating disorder so it makes sense that it takes time to solve it.
Sometimes you’re overeating in a kind of autopilot mode, sometimes you’re urged to eat. At the end it’s no more a pleasure but a food addiction. Most of the time though you eat without really noticing what you’ve ingested, am I wrong? Sometimes you just look at the chips bowl and find it empty; but it was full just five minutes ago. Where did all chips go?
Binge eating is either a conscious or a subconscious crave for food which is not needed and transforms a pleasure in pain. But this can change. Using Hypnosis for binge eating you can enjoy again food and obviously get a better shape, plus a better self esteem as you’ll be able to control yourself and your eating disorder.
How to stop binge eating on a Conscious level:
Well, if you’re reading this article you already know that you have an eating disorder and you are already searching a solution to eat less. That is you have already admitted with yourself that you want to stop binge eating. Kudos as this is the first step to find a solution.
Now you have just to use your mind to eat less, when not needed leave the door of the fridge closed. Or put less chips in the bowl, or eat carrots instead, and so on. On a conscious level there are many things you can do to control your overeating, after all it’s just a matter of willpower and you got it. But what if now you already go on autopilot and eat like there is no tomorrow?
That is what can you do if your eating disorder has become a habit of automatic eating like you just don’t see how many food you’re throwing in? Here is where Hypnosis comes into play.
How to use Hypnosis for binge eating:
The problem with this eating disorder is that you eat on autopilot and most of the times you’re not even aware of what you eat and how much you eat. Actually your body knows how much food you need to remain in good health and while one part of the Subconscious mind drives you on autopilot as regards eating another part knows what you really need to eat. You just have to listen to the “good” part of the Subconscious mind.
Actually that part of your mind which drives you to eat on autopilot has been trained in this way partially by the Conscious mind, “I feel depressed, let’s eat that ice cream box” and partially because everyone feels good after eating an ice cream so with time it has become a good for everything answer. It has been established an anchor between eating ice creams and feeling better. Also after some time passed eating a lot your stomach has become enlarged so it needs more food to feel full. All this makes your overeating a habit and an addiction. In short:
- You don’t notice what you eat
- You have to eat to feel good
- You have to eat too much
Now, point number two is easily solved. You know that you don’t have to eat to feel good and you know that overeating doesn’t make you any good. Given that this is a learned habit noticing and admitting it will solve it soon. Hasn’t your attitude to food already begun to change just now? As we are talking?

How to stop binge eating Suggestion:
“Whenever I’m putting food into my mouth I just want to ask myself if I really need to eat that food in that moment.”
This Suggestion works by making you aware when you are putting food into your mouth so that eating, and what to eat, becomes a conscious decision. This is aimed to avoid overeating on autopilot without really being aware of it. Obviously this Suggestion works only if you really want to stop binge eating, if you like eating too much it won’t work.
You’re already on the way to stop your eating disorder. Whenever you’ll be putting food into your mouth you’ll become instantly aware that you are going to eat and what you’re going to eat, then eating or not becomes your own decision. Your inner self, or Subconscious Mind, which knows which kind of food you need and how much food you need will tell you if you really need that food.
Hypnosis works to stop binge eating making you aware and able to take a conscious decision so that you can decide what to do: to eat or not to eat. Every food addiction which depends from our mind can be addressed with Hypnosis since what happens in our mind can be solved by our mind. An eating disorder like compulsory overeating will take a bit of time to be handled but the power is always in your hands; and in your mind.
