Easy Deep Breathing Technique
Deep breathing is really a complete holistic health system in itself, the easiest thing we can do to achieve a better heath.
Breathing is the single most important thing for every human being. The first thing we do when we are born is breathing, the last thing we do on the Earth is breathing, the so called last breath. Human beings can resist days without water, weeks without food but only minutes without breathing.
Unfortunately the greatest part of human beings breath incorrectly and this not only can affect our health but also our mood. Look at someone either stressed or angry and you’ll notice that his breath is short and fast like he’s not inhaling enough air in his lungs. And that’s exactly what happens. Given that we rely on oxygen to live deep breathing correctly is of utmost importance to augment our intake of air so that we can have more energy, be less tired and discharge better carbon dioxide. That is with deep breathing we can absorb more nutrients and discharge more wastes and so our body gets cleaner.
Beside this there are two other reasons to learn deep breathing, one is that our breath act as a bridge between our Conscious and Subconscious Mind so that their communication becomes easier and better, just like the communication between our Mind and our Body; the other is that deep breathing correctly we can relax and decrease our level of stress and improve our mood. That’s why a correct breathing technique is the basis of Hypnosis. And that’s why the commonest advice when someone is uptight or angry or nervous is to take ten deep breaths, they really make the difference and release pressure immediately.
So, how can we do deep breathing right?
Very simply we must use the so called belly breathing the more we can. Belly breathing or diaphragmatic breathing are just other names for deep breathing. At the beginning it will be a conscious action but you’ll see that it will become soon subconscious and automatic so that deep breathing will become second nature. And this is pretty interesting as breathing lies in the realm of subconscious, we consciously breath in a different way which will soon become again a subconscious action. Amazing.
Now,
- Sit comfortably and put one hand over your chest and the other over your belly
- Take a couple of breaths and just notice which hand moves first when you inhale (probably it will be the hand over your chest)
- Now imagine that your breath goes directly to your belly so that it raises first and your lungs second
- Inhale with your belly moving first and exhale with your belly moving first again
- That’s it, breath using your belly both for inhaling and exhaling, slowly and calmly.
- Don’t exaggerate, just breath naturally as you feel comfortable.
- Inhale through your nose and exhale through your mouth, or your nose if it feels more natural for you
Deep breathing is the best thing you can do for your health and wellness, and it’s a pretty simple technique to learn which poses the basis for a successful Hypnosis or Self Hypnosis session. But deep breathing works perfectly even on its own too.
