To motivate yourself you have just to decide, or believe or feel that it is an important thing which has to be done and you have all the motivation needed. Don’t you already do what you really want to? Every time? Whatever the effort? I bet you do. But can we use the Subconscious Mind for this? Or is it better the Conscious?
To have this motivation inside we must have both our Conscious, rational mind, and our Subconscious, creative mind, to agree that the action we have to perform is important. And that doing it our life will have some sort of improvement either by adding something, like more money, more free time, better relationships, etc. or subtracting something like less hassles, less efforts and so on.
That is our life must become either easier or better in some way.
- Some times it’s the Conscious which prevents us from doing something, either because we think it’s not so important, or because we think we could lose more than we could achieve, or because we think that acting is the wrong thing to do. Sometimes we are just too lazy to put things into action.
- Some other times it’s the Subconscious Mind which stops us and most of the times it’s because we have a kind of gut feeling that performing an action would be a bad decision. Most of the times it is definitely right and this is proved by the fact that when we force ourselves to do something when we are not 100% convinced it’s a good idea and later we regret we did usually the first thing that comes in our mind is that we had that gut feeling but we didn’t listen to it.
Just like when you meet someone for the first time and feel that there is something wrong about him, you change “consciously” your mind only to go back to your first opinion later when facts demonstrate that there was really something wrong about him.
Motivation with the Conscious and Subconscious Mind in practice:
What you have to do is simply to sit down with a piece of paper and write down all reasons that comes to your mind to do, or not, something. This is the Conscious part and it gives you a rough idea if it is going to be a good decision or not. Our analytical mind is great at this. Then look at the piece of paper trying to listen to your instinct, or you gut feeling (the Subconscious Mind) to see if there is something that resonates badly, so to speak.
If everything looks fine and the positive reasons overcome the negative ones, or at least the negatives can be reasonably sustained and you feel inside that it’s a good, positive decision for your life then you’ll need nothing more to do what has to be done. Your whole mind will get to work and you’ll get as motivated as you can as nothing will block you.
At the end to motivate yourself you just have to find enough good reasons to do something.
