What weight loss motivation do you need to quit being overweight?

Being overweight you already know it’s really bad for your health right? And for your life in general, isn’t this a good enough weight loss motivation? Do you need something else? Have you ever considered how many people you’re making rich? Those who sell you food, those who sell you clothes or stronger furnitures, those who will take care of your health when it will be seriously compromised by your weight, those who sell you pills and any kind of magical potion to get slimmer.

Being overweight you’re slowly killing yourself and making others rich, isn’t this good enough as a weight loss motivation? Aren’t you bothered by being their golden goose?

Probably you’re not born overweight but you’ve become so in a matter of years which means that you can go back if you really want. Maybe it was your parent’s fault as they filled everyday your plate with too much food, maybe you’ve been tricked into thinking that those marvellous chips are vegetables while in reality they are carbohydrates, or that fat free food is what you need while in reality it has made you more overweight than everything else as if it’s fat free you can eat as much as you want, I don’t know the reasons behind it, but you do. Or you simply like food. I do for example.

Weight loss motivation is what you need to lose excessive weight, but you are the only one who knows why you got so heavy and you are the only one who knows if you really want to lose weight or if in reality you’re happy this way. I guess deep down you’re not otherwise you would not be reading this article. So, why are you eating so much? What’s the hole in your soul you’re trying to fill? Or is it that you just like eating? It’s just a matter of controlling  yourself or there’s something more?

You see, there isn’t one answer for everyone so to lose weight you have to understand, or admit, why deep down you either don’t care or like being overweight. You know that. I know you do. And weight loss motivation is worthless if you don’t admit it. For example I have to control myself sometimes because I really like good food, and beer, so I try not to exaggerate or at least, like during Christmas Holidays, to alternate eating a lot with eating little and possibly low calories food like a lot of vegetables. Add this with the fact that I love real chocolate and you can understand why I know a thing or two on losing weight.

The best form of weight loss motivation is finding out or admitting why you’re overweight, is it because you like to eat or because you have to eat?

If it’s a physical reason or a psychological one so you can easily address the right target, so to say. Now as it’s mandatory when talking about weight loss you must check with your doctor but if you want my rule of thumb you are overweight when you are not able while standing to touch your feet with your hands. And you’re seriously overweight when you’re not even able to see your feet. And this has nothing to do with transforming your belly in a turtle. Here in Italy we have a joke when we say that with age our turtle gets shy and that’s why it shows always its rounded back.

What would be your weight loss motivation?

I can’t tell you but you can tell me, why you got overweight and why you would like to have a healthy weight again? What’s your reason to change? Why do you want to be able to touch your feet again? Because if you don’t know, or if you don’t want to, then no one can help you. You have the answer, you know why, you know what to do. Not me, You.

Then, after you’ve identified why you got overweight and what would be your own weight loss motivation we can begin working on how you can lose your excessive weight.

What do you think? Any thought?
