Positive Thinking and its Power

Positive Thinking is one of the most important tools we have to improve the quality of our lives. In my humble opinion its the one singular attitude which can really make miracles and in a very short time. Empires have been built through a correct use of the power of Positive Thinking.

One of the common thoughts it is something like: “Think positively and only positive things will manifest in your life“. Now, this is completely wrong. You can think positively and be robbed anyway, or be fired at work, or left by your girlfriend or boyfriend. And if you live in some Third World Countries thinking positively won’t change much of your life if every day your first thought is to find some pure water to drink. This has nothing to do with the power of Positive Thinking in real life.

So, what’s the difference between using Positive Thinking and just thinking positively?

While thinking positively is merely a kind of “everything that happens is good” attitude, which is not, Positive Thinking in reality is trying to find something positive to what happens to us and expecting that we can reach our goals whatever they are, within reason.

Someone gets fired at his job: thinking positively he says “Great, I’ve been fired and that’s fine. Everything will go well anyway.” Positive Thinking instead is: “I’ve been fired and that’s bad, but maybe now I can find a better job, it can be a stimulus to change”. I’m positive in the sense that I’m sure that it will come out to be a good thing and my life will improve instead that being worse.

While thinking positively is merely a kind of open eyes dream-like attitude, Positive Thinking is a definite understanding that everything has a positive side, sometimes very small, and that if not today tomorrow or in the future we will be able to see it. Also it is trust on ourselves.

Clearly this cannot work for everything that happens to us; losing a loved one has no positive sides, not that we can see anyway, but the power of Positive Thinking can help us enormously during our everyday life.  And this is a reason good enough to use this attitude as much as we can. 90 percent of what happens to us has a positive side, we just have to learn to look for it. It’s there but sometimes we just need a bit of time to find it out.

How the the power of Positive Thinking can  change our life for the better:

Positive Thinking changes our lives because if we are able to find a positive side to the great majority of things which happens to us our quality of life improves, our low mood stays for a very little time and if we fall we are able to stand up again pretty fast. Trying to find a positive side and finding it makes us have trust that whatever happens will benefit us in a way or another and we’ll go on always toward better things.

That is to say that using the power of Positive Thinking we can have the ability to sustain better and recover faster from the challenges of life. We can live better and enjoy more our life.

And the best thing is that to get results from Positive Thinking you just have to use it because as with everything else practice makes perfection. Try to find a positive side to what happens to you, even if it’s small. Look for ways to transform everything in positive.

It’s there, you have just to look for it.

What are your thoughts? What do you think about this way to use the power of Positive Thinking?

Very balanced perspective. Positive thinking is like cognitive psychology, we shift how we percieve life by seeing options.

I wrote a hub a while back on whether positive thinking and affirmations work. :) I would like to add your link to my hub as it will give a balanced view to readers of what positive thinking is about.

@Violetsun Hi Marie, you're right and summarized perfectly Positive Thinking, it's about seeing options while negative thinking is about seeing no options. It would be a pleasure if you link from your article. And now I'll go to read it. Thanks! :)
