Is there something more impossible than being a mixture of scientific-psychic? Can we put together these two worlds which seem to be at the antipodes? How can we demonstrate something which happens in the mind and can’t be measured with instruments? Tough job indeed.
Science usually requires measure and repetition; something scientific needs to provide reliable and repeatable results which should be also measurable. Great when we’re talking about something that can be touched or measured through instruments but not so when we can’t. The question is if something that can’t be seen exists anyway. The answer is yes, in some cases. If for now we don’t have the technology to measure something this doesn’t mean that it doesn’t exist and if results are not always reliable it doesn’t mean that we’re talking about fluff. Technology has its limits and science hasn’t been able yet to provide answers for everything. It seems a joke but if this universe was created by The Big Bang what made Bang?
If a scientific-psychic thing was such an oximoron why many Secret Services tested, and probably still do, psychic abilities? Beside Intuition, which is a real human ability as almost anyone can assert, and the Third Eye, which at least in my opinion is an enhanced use of our five senses most of the times, many other strange powers have been studied. Is anyone able to move object with his mind?
Who knows but there is another question: if someone passed the exam of science for Telekinesis would he be allowed to use his powers as wanted or it would fall in Secret Service embrace? If you really have such a power no Government would let you have a normal life. So it might be that a scientific-psychic ability exists but we’ll never know it. Think about what happens to inventions which are considered of strategic importance.
Psychic Abilities being something happening through the mind are by definition hard to measure with technology, at least for today, and are not reliable as they seem to depend on a plethora of factors, not least the psychic’s feelings. While under stress is very hard to keep a calm and relaxed mind, the common pre-requisite for using it at best. Plus let’s not forget that many bizarre characters make claims of possessing extraordinary powers to go on tv or make some money.
Nevertheless sometimes it happens that a psychic is able to locate missing persons, is it by chance? Or is it because these abilities are not usually under control and by their own nature can’t be called at will? Can something which doesn’t have a demonstration, for now, be dismissed as fake? Like it was done with Galileo Galilei? What if technology and instruments in the future will be able to measure what our mind does in a more specific way? Can we really say that everything which can’t be measurable and repeatable is a fable? It’s hard to say that something scientific and psychic doesn’t or can’t exist, or coexist.
I think that something scientific-psychic can exist and a balanced approach should be used and it’s the best one to use. Every claim must be demonstrated, at least in theory like science does many times, but at the same time we can’t say that something which we can’t call and use at will doesn’t exist as there are many events saying the contrary. I don’t think that chance is a good explanation, not all the times. What’s your opinion?
