What is Meditation and How to Meditate in a Snap
What is Meditation is simply said: one of the greatest tool we have to reach a high level of relaxation, stress reduction and to calm our mind. The only drawback of many Meditation techniques as they are normally taught is that some time is needed before learning well how to meditate. Not many of us can wait for months before enjoying the benefits of Meditation right?
Meditation can be seen as a state of mind where we experience a sense of harmony between ourselves and the external world, between our Conscious and Subconscious Mind and between our body and our mind. When we meditate everything is calm, relaxed and connected.
Another way to define what is Meditation is that it’s a focused yet relaxed state of attention, just like when in a trance during an Hypnosis session. Focused yet relaxed. Given that Meditation is a trance-like state whenever we are in a trance we are also meditating. This means that to learn how to meditate and experience the rewards of a Meditation technique you just have to be relaxed and focused on something and you’re done.
If you like reading when you read a very good book of the kind that you are so absorbed by it that you hear nothing and someone has to touch you to have your attention you’re in a trance-like state and you are experiencing a kind of Meditation. Meditation as a technique is not at all so complicated, we human beings for a reason or another tend to take something simple and transform it in a complicated thing.
So, you’re probably already good at Meditating only that you don’t know it. What works with books can work with other every physical activity which focuses but relaxes at the same time your mind, like jogging or walking, caring for roses or bonsai, playing with your pets, etc. Just looking at nature doing nothing is a great and probably the best free Meditation technique.
As a rule of thumb every activity which makes you to forget you have a watch is the right one for you. And your own perfect Meditation technique.
If instead you would like to begin learning a basic Meditation technique in a more traditional way these are the steps you need to follow:
How to meditate step by step:
- Find a place where you won’t be disturbed for ten to twenty minutes.
- Do ten push ups or Jumping Jacks or jump rope for one minute to discharge any tension from your body.
- Find a comfortable position but not so relaxing that you fall asleep.
- Take some deep breaths and when you feel right close your eyes and take ten deep belly breaths counting from ten to one saying Relax in your mind: like “Ten-Relax”, “Nine-Relax”, etc.
- At one focus your thoughts on a relaxing image, either visualizing it if you’re good at Creative Visualization or just imagining it; it will work either way. Keep your thoughts on that image and if your mind begins to wander around get it back on your relaxing image. If you prefer you can just count from 100 to 1 as it will have the same effect. Or count your heartbeats. You can do whatever relaxes you while focusing at the same time.
- When the time to finish Meditation comes just count from one to five and open your eyes.
- Stay there with your eyes open for a while and when you feel ready get up again, now you know how to meditate and have enjoyed a full Meditation session.
As you can see it is not such a complicated technique, but pretty simple instead, you just have to find the right way for you to meditate. And the more you meditate the better you get at it and the greater the results you’ll have.
Benefits of Meditation:
There are many benefits using a Meditation technique as a daily habit like stress reduction, relaxation, an overall sense of calm, a decreased blood pressure, lower heartbeats rate, stronger Immune System, better digestion and tens more reasons. The benefits on Meditation are so many that everyone should meditate daily, also because it’s as simple as reading a good book.
Now you know how to meditate and what is Meditation, a very basic form but real Meditation anyway, what do you think? Is it too simple or I’m right?
